About JD Glass

A family trade. A professional standard.

Founded in 2015, built on a generation before it. A self-performing commercial glazing contractor headquartered in Southern California.

01Our story

Our founder grew up in his father’s glass business — learning the trade from the shop floor up.

That second-generation foundation shapes how we work today: our own crews on every install, direct accountability on every project, and craftsmanship treated as a family standard, not a slogan.

We deliver full Division 8 scope — storefront systems, curtainwall, entrances, doors, hardware and glazing — for general contractors, owners and developers across California. Our experience spans retail tenant improvements, DSA school construction, HCAI healthcare facilities, public works and federal projects, with prevailing wage and certified payroll compliance built into how we operate.

From bid day through punch list, our principals stay involved — because in a family-built company, every project carries the name.

Jose E. Garay

Founder & Owner

Four decades in commercial glazing stand behind the company he built — accurate takeoffs, clean installations and work that holds up long after the punch list closes.

His career covers nearly every seat in the trade. He began as a glazier, moved into superintendent work running crews from layout through closeout, then into estimating — learning to read a set of drawings for what it would actually cost to build — and on to Vice President of Sales, building the GC and owner relationships that still form the backbone of the company’s client base.

Before J.D. Glass took its current form, he operated under the EZ Glass name. He has also built a substantial multifamily real estate portfolio, giving him a clear view of construction from the owner’s side of the table.

Jose is the father of two. Outside the business, he is most often found at the beach with his grandchildren.

JD has been a glazier since he was sixteen, coming home on weekends through college to work alongside his father. After graduating he ran a project management role at another firm to build working capital for J.D. Glass — two full-time jobs at once — and grew the company on his own equity, without outside investors.

He also leads JD Golden Investments and JDG Property Management, which inform how J.D. Glass prices, plans and delivers for the owners it builds for.

He graduated at the top of his class from UC Santa Barbara (Political Science and Public Policy), earned a Construction Management certificate from UCLA with distinction, a Project Management certificate from Cornell, and an MBA in Corporate Finance from UC Davis. On weekends, he tutors students in math.

She brings a clinical background in psychology to how the company recruits, trains and retains its people: a B.A. in Psychology from UC Riverside, completed in three years at the top of her class, and a master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University (3.92 GPA).

She also holds consulting roles with Kaiser Permanente. Her presence on the leadership team reflects a conviction central to the company: a construction company is only as strong as the people who staff it.
